starsPeople are Buzzing About "The Baby Borrowers"

Dozens of news organizations are picking up an AP story today with news that readers of this blog already know:  NBC's new reality show, "The Baby Borrowers," is a great way for teens (and everyone) to start talking about preventing teen pregnancy.

The show follows five teen couples who think they're ready for parenthood, as they care for babies, toddlers, pre-teens, teens and senior citizens.  We urge everyone to check it out on Wednesday, June 25 at 8pm ET/PT.

A discussion guide to help facilitate conversations after watching the show is available from The National Campaign.  For the AP story about a National Campaign Youth Leadership Team viewing party, click here.

Watch more clips from the first episodes of "The Baby Borrowers" after the jump.

This looks like a thoughtful show. However, putting them up in nice houses and giving them jobs is a little unrealistic.

I think this is a great idea. Nomatter how much adults try to convince teens that they should waitt o have children, they may not really listen. Hopefully a program like this will actually show them.

I agree, showing them instead of just telling them is a much better approach. I think it's a great approach to prevent teen pregnancy, by combining it with entertainment to get people to actually watch. This show might actually have some educational merit.

I agree that teens need a REAL lesson in what it is like to have to care for children. The old take care of a bag of flour for a week technique isn't going to cut it anymore. I think this show is a great idea.

I'm worried that people won't understand that the REAL parents are right next door and can step in to help out at anytime. Alot of people are jumping on and calling these parents irresponsible for putting their children "in danger" like this. But I think this show and it's message is important. The relationships of these teens is going to be tested as is the patience of the parents. I can't wait to see this show.

i agree with the posts, these teens definitely need a reality check and im glad NBC is giving it to them. i mean, they need to be taught a lesson and understand how difficult it is to take care of a child, etc. im definitely watching this show with my kid next wednesday night.

These teenagers need to be watcing the NBC's new show called Baby Barrowers to see how hard it's like to be a parent. I think NBC is doing a great job at trying to prevent early pregnancies and you know teenagers will be watching...come on..it's TV! that's what teenagers do!

I'll definitely be tuning in. I think teens need more of the reality-based intervention, whether it’s this show,or teen moms giving them the straight talk, or electronic babies that cry when it’s inconvenient, or whatever. How about a teen pregnancy version of the Sims?! My daughter and I will also be watching it together.
